Isabelle places 3rd in National Competition
After attending Climbing Club for the past 12 months, Isabelle placed a respactable 3rd place in the 2nd round of the 2008 BMC Youth Climbing Series. Izzy still has one more round to go at The Castle in London. To qualify for the finals, Izzy needs to finsh in the top three after the next round. She is currently in fourth place so if she can perform as well as she has done in last two rounds she should be in for a chance of qualifing. This is only Izzy's second ever competition so to finish third is brilliant.

Izzy competed in 2007 SIBL's and finished in 10th place. Keep checking this page for Izzy's progress.

Neil Gresham Masterclass

Wednesday 29th November saw the first of many climbing competitions held at Revolution Climbing Centre in Kent. Neil also held a master class focusing on how to move more efficiently on the walls and took a closer look at how to climb overhangs.
The night started with a relaxed competition climbing the 13 problems Neil had set. The problems were superbly set and made climbers really think about the moves resulting in some interesting bridging problems and careful footwork. John Samways was on hand from LA Sportiva to fit demonstration shoes on competitors as well as giving advice on best shoe and best fit. Each of the competitors was able to try on a wide range of shoes and find out which one was best for them.
The competition had two prizes up for grabs. One was the overall winner on a point system won by Rob Hutton with 104 points who only just pipped second place winner Alan Finch. The second prize was selected by Neil who picked a winner out of all the competitors result cards to give Jane Turney a pair of La Sportiva Mythos Climbing Shoes. Well done to everyone who entered and the last few places were very close.
When the competition was over, Neil took centre stage to do his master class with everyone attentively listening to his advice on training methods and watching him breeze the problem on the overhanging section demonstrating the easiest and hardest ways up. Competitors were able to snap up copies of Neil’s Master class DVD’s and "Preposterous Tales" book which Neil was kind enough to sign for them.
Revolution would like to express their thanks to Neil Gresham and John Samways for organising a top evening.
Many thanks to all of the competitors who joined in and congratulations to the winners.

I would also like to take this opportunity to update you on our rent issue. As you may or may not know our landlords doubled our rent earlier this year and we faced closure if would could not come up with an agreement. But an agreement has now been reached and a 25 year lease has been signed so Revolution climbing Wall is to stay open. I would like to say a massive thank you to all the support the climbing community has shown towards Revolution. With this lease now secured, we can turn to the expansion of the centre including a new upstairs Bouldering area and a dedicated lead room. Watch this space for news on the developments.
